6 week ban in effect: As of May 1, 2024 a 6-week abortion ban is in effect in the state of Florida, with very few exceptions requiring official documentation.
24 hour waiting period: Florida law requires two (2) in-person appointments at least 24 hours apart before obtaining an abortion, whether it be medication or procedural.
If you're under 18 years old: As of May 2025, minors in Florida can generally only get an abortion if they have the written, notarized consent of a parent or legal guardian. Previously, those unable to involve a parent could petition a court for a "judicial bypass," but a recent Florida court decision declared the judicial bypass process unconstitutional, effectively eliminating this option for most young people. Limited exceptions remain, such as in cases of abuse, but these are very narrowly defined.
